We provide options for single motherhood by choice
Families come in all shapes and sizes and more women are embracing the idea of single motherhood by choice. Making the decision to have a child on their own without a partner is becoming more common among single women these days. According to one sperm bank, more than half of their customers are single mothers by choice.
Times have changed and today’s women feel more empowered to make life decisions on their own terms. At Fertility Answers, we believe in helping create families into loving, stable environments, regardless of whether a partner is involved. Our South Louisiana fertility centers offer the latest, proven fertility treatments for women to embrace single motherhood by choice.
Women will need a sperm donor to create a baby
A woman who wants to have a baby without a male partner will obviously require donor sperm to conceive a biological child. You can use this donated sperm in an intrauterine insemination (IUI) or in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycle. IUI with donor sperm involves using a thin, flexible catheter to place donor sperm through the vagina and cervix and into your uterus. IVF with donor sperm involves a few more steps, including ovarian stimulation, egg retrieval, laboratory fertilization and an embryo transfer.
Fertility testing will help you and your doctor make the decision of which treatment option is right for you. If you have no fertility issues, IUI will likely be a good option. However, IVF may be the better option if you are over age 35, have irregular cycles, or have conditions like endometriosis or tubal blockage infertility.
